DIAC Newsroom ? Media_releases ? 28 illegal workers in VIC, NSW and SA to be removed
Immigration officials will today begin arranging to remove 28 illegal workers located in compliance operations across Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) officers located 17 illegal agriculture workers near Wangaratta. In the other Victorian operation in Albury, just over the NSW border, three others were located working illegally in restaurants.

Immigration officials have begun preliminary discussions about education options for children whose families are currently in immigration detention in Darwin. An initial approach has been made to the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training regarding the possibility of providing educational places for school-age asylum seekers. Initial consultations are currently under way with education authorities about a memorandum of understanding between the two departments.

ACMA - ACMA media release 94/2010 ? 28 July
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has released its Broadcasting Financial Results 2008-09 report. The commercial radio sector reported $1,039.4 million in revenue, a decrease of four per cent on 2007-08. The ACMA and its predecessors have produced the annual Broadcasting Financial Results report since 1978.

Monday, 26 July 2010. The Panel has received an application from Conquest Mining Limited in relation to the affairs of North Queensland Metals Limited dated 23 July 2010. Conquest seeks final orders including that North Queensland prepare and lodge a replacement target's statement correcting the disclosure issues and despatch it to North Queensland shareholders.

Monday, 26 July 2010. The Panel has received an application from Perizia Investments Pty Ltd and Kapiri Holdings Pty Ltd in relation the affairs of Mamba Minerals Limited dated 23 July 2010. On 14 June 2010, Perizia and Kapiri served a notice on Mamba under section 249D of the Corporations Act requisitioning a meeting of shareholders to consider resolutions for the removal of the current directors of Mamba and the appointment of new directors.

DIAC Newsroom ? Media_releases ? Immigration officers to visit Mackay
Outreach officers from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) will run seminars in Mackay about temporary and permanent skilled migration on August 4 and 5. A DIAC spokesman said that the information sessions will provide details on the range of visa options available. The first information session on August 4 is for international workers and will take place at Mackay Regional Council's Administration Building, on the corner of Gordon and Wellington Streets, starting at 5.30pm.

At the tender age of 92, Theresia Krajewski will tonight become an Australian citizen at a ceremony in the Perth suburb of Armadale, Western Australia. Mrs Krajewski is one of only a few people in their 90s who have made the pledge to become an Australian citizen, a spokesman for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) said. Mrs Krajewski joins more than four million people who have become Australian citizens since 1949.
